ONTARIO LACROSSE FESTIVAL 2025
The Thunder Bay ICE U15 lacrosse team is headed to Whitby, ON to participate in the Ontario Lacrosse Festival.

Members of the Thunder Bay ICE, SOO Spartans and Sudbury Rockhounds have combined to form a Northern Ontario team providing the opportunity for athletes to participate in the largest youth Lacrosse Tournament in the world. The tournament begins with a pair of games on Friday August 1, 2025, with at least four games guaranteed.

The team met virtually at first and team manager Carolyn Simerson explained, "they have their own house league, and we sent training plans, notes and practice ideas. When we finally met for exhibition games, it was great to see how quickly the team bonded on the floor."

To qualify for the tournament, teams must play a minimum number of games during the season. For Thunder Bay, that meant travel. Simerson sees this experience as a major opportunity for the players. "It's phenomenal to give them this kind of exposure and see how far they've come," she said. "Not just for the kids from Thunder Bay but also for those from Sault Ste. Marie, Nipigon and Sudbury, who don't always get to play in competitive, inter-league settings."
